EPIC HEROES

Epic heroes are usually extremely attractive, and they come from a wealthy/famous family. They can take on challenges that no one else can take. They can also slay things like dragons and monsters.they are also very strong and mightyful, and usually have weaknesses. Their weaknesses can lead them to death.

An example of an epic hero would be Odysseus, who was in a Greek epic called the Odyssey. Odysseus was very clever and was fast thinking. He used these characteristics to help him overcome many challenges.

Another example of an epic hero would be Achilles. He was a man of great military skill, and prowess.

A last example of an epic hero would be Hercules. He was the son of Zeus. In classical mythology, Hercules is famous for his strength and for his numerous far-ranging adventures.

EPIC POEMS

Traditionally, an epic poem is a long, serious, poetic narrative about a significant event, often featuring a hero. Before the development of writing, epic poems were memorized and played an important part in maintaining a record of the great deeds and history of a culture.Epics often feature the following: a hero who embodies the values of a culture or ethnic group; something vital that depends on the success of the hero's actions; a broad setting, sometimes encompassing the entire world; intervention by supernatural beings. Examples of epics include Gilgamesh, the Odyssey, and Beowulf.

An example of an epic poem is Gilgamesh, who was a king of Uruk, Mesopotamia, and lived sometime between 2800 and 2500 BC. He is the main character in the Epic of Gilgamesh, a Mesopotamian poem that is considered the first great work of literature.

The Odyssey is also one of the two major Ancient Greek epic poems, attributed to Homer. This epic poem was about Odysseus who struggled for 10 years to return home from the Trojan War.

Lastly, The longest epic poems ever written was the Mahabharata and the Tibetan Epic of King Gesar. The oldest surviving speculative fiction poem is the Tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor, written in Hieratic and ascribed a date around 2500 B.C.E

These epic heroes and poems made up Greek culture, and was their source of entertainment. It encouraged their imagination to be creative.
