ANCIENT EGYPTIAN AGRICULTURE

IRRIGATION

  • The Nile River is where they got their water
  • They would flood their land for a couple months by building dams
  • Flooding seasons last from June-September
  • The land does not need much water after being flooded

CROPS

  • They grew barley, wheat, cereal grains, flax, corn,
  • garlic, melons, squash, lettuce, and grapes

PLANTING AND PLOWING

  • They would plow the land after it had dried
  • The plow was tied to the horns of an ox
  • A sower would throw seeds on the ground

ANIMALS

  • They would use donkeys, oxen, and horses

HARVESTING AND PLANTING SEASONS

  • Planting/growing season- October- February
  • Harvesting season- March- May
