MESOPOTAMIAN LIFE

RELIGION

  • In Mesopotamia all the Sumerians were polytheistic.
  • Which means they believed in multiple gods or goddessess.
  • They had a special building for gods or goddessess known as a ziggurat.
  • They believed the gods/goddessess would come down onto the ziggurat
  • The picture behind the first slide is a picture of a ziggurat.

GEOGRAPHICAL ADVANTAGES

  • Of 56 best grain producing crops,32 of them grew in Mesopotamia.
  • Their were two rivers around Mesopotamia.
  • They would flood, but it helped because it brung resources to the people.
  • So they didn't have to get it themselves.
  • The plants were the easiest to domesticate because they didn't need a lot attention.

TECHNOLOGY

  • Sumerians would have clay tablets which they used to write on.
  • They used the flax and wool from plants and sheep to make clothing.
  • Bricks were moulded by hand and had a flat base and a round top.
  • They would have merchants which who they would buy items from.

HAMMURABI'S CODE

  • The Hammurabi's Code was written on a clay tablet covered in stone.
  • It is one the oldest codes recorded of laws in the world.
  • One of the best examples of the code is written on the "diorite stele".
  • Instead of numbers and letters it would have pictures and triangles.
