POLITICS~

House of Medici
The Medici family ruled Florence during the Renissance. They sold wool and were bankkers and the family became very wealthy. The Medici were most famous for sponsoring artists. They payed artists for works of art. These allowed artists to work and not worry about money. Most of their wealth was from the Medici Bank which was popular and respected. CertIn members of the family were impotent in particular. iovanni de Madici founded the Medici bank which made the family wealthy. Cosimo da Medici started the Flaorence dynasty. Lorendo de Medici ruled through the peak of the Italian Renissance. Pope Leo X was the first of four Medicis to become a pope. Catherine de Medici married King Henry II of France and became queen of France and brought ballet to French court. Marie de Medici married king Henry IV and became queen of France.

William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare was an actor and poet and was best known for his plays like Romeo and Juliet. When William turned eighteen, he married Anne Hathaway. Shakespeare wrote the plays for Lord Chamberlain's Men. Shakespeare's plays became very popular in London. He wrote the plays the Taming of the Shrew, Richard III, Romeo and Juliet, and a Mid Summers Dream early on. The theater was shut down and they built a new one called Globe Theater. His best plays were written in the last half of his career like Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeath. His most famous poems are Venus and Adonis. Shakespeare died on his 52nd Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo was a famous painter, inventor, and scientist who was most famous for his painting of Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. His sketches in his journal were mostly about what he was studying in science, which happened to be the human body.

ART AND ARCHITECTURE~

Michelangelo
Michelangelo was a sculptor, a painter, and an architect. By the time he was 13, he started training as an artist. He then continued training with an artist under the Medici family. He then produced the sculptures, Modonna of the Steps, Batlle of the Centars, and Bacchus. He then moved to Rome and constructed the Pieta, which was the only piece of art he signed. He went back to Florence to create the Statue of David. He returned to Rome and painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. There he constructed The Creation of Adam. He also painted the Hands of Adam and God and The Fcae of God. He worked along the lines of Leonardo da Vinci and worked in many places as an architect including the Medici Chapel.
