COST

  • 8 million miles of road in the lower 48 states
  • 48 trillion for the entire highway system in the US

SAFETY

  • The warmth attracts animals
  • it cannot differentiate between animate and inanimate
  • The panels can fail because of electrical issues
  • Electrical surges, water damage, extreme temperatures
  • Panels may be hacked

RELIABLITY

  • 30 years on average, but can they last with years of traffic?
  • What will they be built on?
