🔹Laos Education🔹
The first way of education in Laos was through Buddhism. Until the 1950's the education in Laos was mainly based in the Buddhist temple schools. Laos has had French education and then the education put in by the Laos government. There a three main parts of the education, primary school, lower secondary and upper secondary.

Primary school goes for 5 years, from ages 6-11, lower secondary goes for 3 years, from ages 11-14 and upper secondary go for 3 years, from ages 14-17. Although not many children end up going to secondary school. (Lower & higher secondary)
Enrolment in school is much more common in city/urban communities rather than farming communities, where children are expected to help in the farm.

🔹Australian Education🔹
School is compulsory in Australia for the ages 5-16+. Laos' primary school is also compulsory but not high school. Australian school are either government, religious, or private. Primary schools go from Kindergarten/prep to year 6 or 7, High school goes from year 7 or 8 until year 12. Some high schools don't have years 11 and 12, so years 11 and 12 are called college instead.

LAOS & AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT

🔹Laos Government🔹
Laos is a communist state. The communist government came to power after a civil war in 1975 which ended the Monarchy rule. Japan governed Laos until 1945, then the French controlled Laos until 1949 when the French granted Laos self control over the Government. In 1953 the Laos government became an independent Monarchy.

The 5th and current president of Laos is Choumally Sayasone, the Vice President is Bounnhang Vorachit. The President has powers to control his/her country and office. He elects his Vice Presidents, and appoints all other ministers.
The Laos government is a one-party state, the only party is called the Lao people's revolutionary party.

🔹Australian Government🔹
Australia is a Monarchy. The Queen is the head of state, but she is also the Queen of commonwealth. Because the Queen cannot stay in Australia, the Governor General represents her. Australian government began in 1901, when all the states joined together to create federation. Laos is like Australia, because both of them have a Prime Minister, but Laos has a President, and Australia has a Governor General.

It is compulsory for everyone in Australia over18 to vote, this is because the government needs people to decide who they want to represent them in Parliament. Voters have to vote a certain person in, then if they get a lot of votes, they get a seat. After an election, the party with the most seats wins the election, and their leader becomes the Prime Minister. In Australia there it more than 1 political party, unlike Laos who only has one party, because they are communist.

ລາວ ແລະ ອົດສະຕຣາລີ ອາຫານ

🔹Laos Cuisine🔹
The food of Laos is often low in fat. the cuisine mostly involves grilled or steamed fish or meat (buffalo meat, pork, poultry.) Nearly every Lao dish has vegetables and herbs in it. Flavours are generally spicy and dry. Depending on where you are in Laos, the cuisine ingredients will vary, because of fresh foods, that are local to each region.

Some of the traditional or common dishes from Laos are Khao niaw or sticky rice, which is served with almost every meal, Laap and tam maak hung. Because the French once occupied Laos, some of the French cuisine is still are part of Laos, such as the French bread stick or Baguette. The Laos food is said to be quite healthy and delicious and have a wide variety of different flavour combinations.

🔹Australian Cuisine🔹
Like Laos cuisine, the Australian cuisine involves fish and meat. But unlike Laos, Australians eat more seafood including prawns, shellfish, crabs, lobsters which are considered a delicacy. Aswell grilling and steaming the food, Australians tend to barbeque more often. In Australia meat and fish are a core ingredients in cooking, and like in Laos, Australians eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Because Aboriginal were the first Australians, some bush tucker forms part of a diet in Australia ( Australian native plants and animals.)

Unlike Laos, whose grain staple is rice, instead of rice with every meal, Australians eat a lot of wheat as bread, cereals, pasta, pastry, cakes and biscuits.
Australian cuisine is influenced by different cultural cuisines, as people have migrated to Australia from all over the world and brought their food traditions with them. Unlike Laos whose food is usually influenced by Its neighbouring countries.

🔹Traditional Clothing of Laos🔹
The 'sinh' is the traditional women's dress of Laos. Laos women usually wear it on special occasions or on a specific day/date. The sinh is a simple tube skirt that you would usually wear with a blouse or Suea Pat, with a shawl or Pha Biang. The sinh consists of 3 parts, 1. Houa sinh, the waistband. 2. Pheun sinh, body or main part. 3. Tdin sinh, the hem. A sinh is not too long or short, it also reflects a woman's personality, culture or beliefs and can be decorated with colourful or plain motifs, patterns, embroidery, textures or designs. The sinh is a special part of Laos' culture and traditional clothing.

The men's traditional clothing is simple pants, peasant pants or salong big pants, shirts and/or a vest. The men also wear a Pha Biang that they also, wrap around their chest, like a shawl. Both men and women wear religious amulets and plenty of silver and gold jewellery. Laos women are expected to dress up well because, according to Laos beliefs, the Lao women are the mothers of the nation and have a higher standard of expectations.

The monks of Laos wear a dress that consists of 3 parts, the uttarasanga, antararavasaka and the sanghati. The uttarasanga or kashaya is the biggest part of the dress. It is a rectangle that is about 2 metres by 3 metres. You usually wrap it around your left shoulder and leave your right shoulder bare, but it can also be wrapped around both shoulders.
The antararavasaka is the second item of the monks clothing. It covers the body from waist to knees. You tie it around your waist like a sarong. It is worn under the uttarasanga.
The third part is the sanghati. The sanghati when not in use is draped over your shoulder. When in use, it is wrapped around your body and the monks use it for warmth.

🔹Traditional Clothing of Australia🔹
The traditional clothing of Australia is the traditional clothing of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people, as they are the first Australians. Their clothing differed in each different region. For example, in tropical areas, minimal clothing was worn. They would either wear a small patch of animal skin or decorate their bodies in paint. But in colder areas, NSW and VIC, they would sew together pieces of animal skin, e.g possum skin, and wear them as possum cloaks or blankets. These clothes are not like Laos because, Laos clothing covers the full body and has several different parts
