Blizzards

Blizzard are extreme and dangerous winter storms. They have high winds and cold temperatures. And sometimes it is not even snowing.

Snowball

A snowball made with early spring snow - soft and grainy-isn't white. If you dissect that snowball don't be surprised to find micro- bits of dust,droppings,plant debris,algae,and exhaust particles.

Coniferous Trees

Northern evergreen coniferous trees are shaped to shed snow. Thick and waxy needles are their armor against wind.

Occasionally a glacier will surge forward several meters a day for weeks ,or even months.

Glimpses

Today if conditions are right,sailers northwest of Scotland get glimpses of Iceland,Greenland ,and Labrador . It is possible that early European sailers ventured to the " New World" because they already saw it.
