PRESENTATION OUTLINE

NUCLEAR

HOW NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY WORKS

  • At nuclear power plants, the heat to make the steam is created when uranium atoms split – called fission
  • There is no combustion in a nuclear reactor.
  • Here's how the process works
  • Pressurized Water Reactors (also known as PWRs) keep water under pressure so that it heats, but does not boil.

HOW THE ENERGY SOURCE COULD BE USED

  • To make electricity
  • Can be used to turn turbines
  • Witch would cause a chain reaction
  • Because turbines power generators
  • Generators power engines and engines make electricity

EXAMPLES OF NUCLEAR USE

  • Electricity
  • Powers 75 percent of France
  • X-rays to check if you have a broken bone

EFFECTS NUCLEAR POWER HAS ON THE ENVIORMENT

  • 4 waste streams
  • Hurts the environment
  • Kills animals
  • Chemicals changes water colors

IS NUCLEAR ENERGY ACCEPTED

  • No
  • It harms the enviorment
  • Kills animals
  • Chemicals in the water change the color

POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES TO NUCLEAR ENEGRY

  • Protects America
  • Hurts the enviorment
  • Powers building
  • Kills animal
