PRESENTATION OUTLINE

1080 Poison

Is it good or bad?

Yellow hat

  • It kills pests such as possums, rats and stoats.
  • It protects our native animals, such as kiwis.
  • 1080 does not harm or kill fish.
  • It protects farms and cattle.
  • It prevents our native plants from being destroyed.

Black Hat

  • 1080 poison kills an unacceptable number of non-targeted species including dogs, cats, deer, pigs, birds, hedgehogs, bees and other insects.
  • When the helicopter does the aerial drop the 1080 could get into the water supply.
  • 1080 is an indiscriminate poison with no antidote. In 50 years of 1080 use in New Zealand thousands of family pets and valuable farm stock have suffered the cruel death of 1080 poisoning.

Red hat

  • I think that 1080 is a good poison because it kills pests and if we didn't have 1080 poison there would be a lot more possums, rats and stoats in New Zealand. I think that we should use 1080 because it keeps our country clean and green and will protect our native animals.
