BATTLE OF JUTLAND

BASIC FACTS

  • Over 250 Naval ships
  • Over 100,000 soldiers
  • Began on May 31st 1916

START OF THE NAVAL WAR

  • Minor naval battles between the Germans and British called the Heligoland and Dogger Bank.

THE BRITISH

  • Had 37 heavy unit ships
  • Had 113 small unit ships

GERMANS

  • Only had 27 heavy units
  • Only had 72 small units

THE BATTLE

  • Fighting 1500 yard away from each other's
  • British sent a heavy ship which the Germans ended up following which lead into a trap, it brought them right into the British's grand fleet

BATTLE CONTINES

  • Germans tried to get the English fleet to come close and destroy their ships with submarines but they couldn't pull it off.

AFTER THE WAR

  • Germans claimed the victory to be theirs because they sunk more ships
  • British lost 14 ships with over 6,000 deaths
  • Germans lost 9 ships with over 2,500 deaths
