Most transform boundaries occur in the sea floor at mid ocean ridges.At these locations,transform boundaries run perpendicular to the ridge where plates are pulling apart.

The theory that explains how large piece of earths outermost layer,called tectonic plates,move and change shape.

The process by which the shape of a rock changes in response to stress is known as deformation.

Today off the northern coast of California the Juan de fuca is subducting beneath the North America plate
