PRESENTATION OUTLINE
THE 3000 METER STEEPLECHASE PROSPECT
One day, a boy was found in a basket, abandoned and famished, gone days without food and water and no one to care for him.
HE WAS ADOPTED BY THIS VERY SWEET OLD LADY THAT TOOK GREAT CARE OF HIM. SHE SENT HIM TO SCHOOL, FED HIM, KEPT HIM SAFE, BUT NEVER TOLD HIM SHE HAD HEART PROBLEMS AND SHE WOULD PASS ON SOON. SHE NAMED HIM PROSPECT.
On September 15th, 2001 Prospect came home from school and found the old lady dead, on the couch. He burst into tears. Suddenly the door banged. The police suspected he had committed homocide. Prospect ran into his room, grabbed clothes and food and escaped out the window.
Prospect ran away from his town far out into the Ethiopian highlands. He survived on small roots and scavenged for small, catchable animals. He survived like this for 10 years
One day, the Olympic coach of Ethiopia observed Prospect in action and chose him for the Olympic Games in London. Prospect was just 17 at the time.
