NILE RIVER

  • There are many settlements along the Nile river.
  • Two sources of the Nile river are crops, and the flooding cycle.
  • Irrigation channels from the Nile flowed to smaller gardens where farmers grew vegetables.
  • The Nile river is the worlds longest river, 4,160 miles.
  • On Shemu--Crops in the lower Nile are harvested and sent to the market.

  • The " king" is the highest class.
  • Enslaved people are the lowest class.
  • People were born into their own social classes.
  • A person who wrote on papyrus would be in the social class; merchants,craftsmen, and scribes.
  • Farmers were second to the last class.

PYRAMIDS

  • You had to have these skills to build a pyramid; mathmatics,architecture,geometry, and engineering.
  • The pyramids are large stone buildings.
  • Pyramids are built for kings " pharaohs."
  • Pyramids are used as houses and tombs for dead kings.
  • Pharaohs were buried with thier possessions.

  • Hieroglyphics was a system of writing that was based on pictures.
  • The pharaohs of Egypt invented hieroglyphics.
  • Hieroglyphics represented ideas or objects.
  • Hieroglyphics could also stand for sounds, unlike cunieform.
  • Egyptians invented papyrus that made keeping records easier.
