Energy Scrapbook

Kayli Tabares P.2

Coal is a non-renewable resource that is melted down to create steam.

advantages

  • used for transportation
  • used for communication

Disadvantages

  • pollutes air, land, and water
  • destroys wildlife/habitats

This type of energy would not be very good for the future. Because this resource is non-renewable, that means that it will run out. This source would not be good, because it effects wild life, and the places that they live. This resource also pollutes the air that we breathe.

oil

Oil is a non-renewable resource. The oil supplies a turbine, and powers a generator.

Advantages

  • High energy density
  • easy to find/ transport

Disadvantages

  • Greenhouse gasses
  • Deaths of animals due to leaking into oceans

This resource would not be good for the future, because this resource is also a non-renewable resource. This resource causes greenhouse gases. It also causes deaths of ocean animals from leaking into the ocean.

This resource would not be good for the future, because this resource is also a non-renewable resource. This resource causes greenhouse gases. It also causes deaths of ocean animals from leaking into the ocean.

Natural Gas

Natural Gas is a non-renewable resource. This resource comes in 3 forms. (solid, liquid, and gas)

Advantages

  • Very powerful
  • Burns cleanly

Disadvantages

  • Fracking
  • Pollutes the air

This resource would not be good for the future, because it is a non-renewable. This means that when it runs out, we would not be able to use it again. This resource can cause pollution in the air that we breathe. And people are fracking so they can have it for the future.

This resource is a non-renewable.This resource creates energy by fusion.

Advantages

  • Clean
  • Completes energy demands

Disadvantages

  • Dangerous waste
  • Climate change

Nuclear would not be a very good resource because its a non-renewable. This means that once we use this resource we would not be able to use tit again. It creates dangerous waste, causing animal deaths. This source also creates climate changes.

Wind

Wind is a renewable resource. the blades connected to the turbine, and when the it spins, it creates energy.

ADVANTAGES

  • No pollution
  • Supplies high demand

dISADVANTAGES

  • Limited areas that it can be placed
  • Kills birds

Wind would be good for the future, be cause it's a renewable resource. This means that it can almost never run out no matter how much we use it.This resource causes little/no pollution. It also supplies high demand, and is accessible for the costumer.

HYDROELECTRIC

Hydroelectric is a renewable resource. Energy is created by the movement of the water.

ADVANTAGES

  • No pollution
  • Supplies high demand

DISADVANTAGES

  • Costs a lot of money to build
  • Might create fault lines

Hydroelectric power would be a good resource for the future, because it's a renewable resource. This means that we could practically live off of this resource if needed. This resource crates little/no pollution. It also doesn't harm marine animals.

GEOTHERMAL

Geothermal is a renewable resource. Energy is created by naturally heated water, and we use the heat to make electricity.

ADVANTAGES

  • Low impact on environment
  • No pollution

DISADVANTAGES

  • This resource is only found in certain places

This resource is a good resource for the future, because it's a renewable resource. This means that no matter how much we use it it will never run out. This resource causes little pollution. It has very low impact on our environment.

SOLAR

Solar power is a renewable resource. The heat, and light is stored, and this creates electricity.

ADVANTAGES

  • No pollution
  • Cheap

DISADVANTAGES

  • Can destroy deserts
  • PV cells are expensive

Solar power would be very good for the future, be cause it's a renewable resource. This means that we could use this type of energy as many times as you want without it burning up. This resource causes no pollution. It is also practically free.

BIOMASS

Biomass is a renewable resource. It is made out of crops, and out of animal waste.

ADVANTAGES

  • endless
  • creates sugars
  • crates energy

disadvantages

  • has to burn all day
  • getting supplies
  • smell of waste

Biomass would not be good for the future even though it is a renewable resource. This resource
is bad for the economy. Because of the smell of waste that would eventually become pollution. It will destroy habitats, because of the locations that it would be placed.

Biofuels(ethanol)

Ethanol is a renewable resource. It is made of corn, and is used to make gas.

advantages

  • less expensive
  • supplies demand

Disadvantages

  • food costs go up
  • food shortages

Ethanol would not be a very good respurce for the future.this reasoning is because of the lack of food now being produced. Lack of food will lead to raising the costs of food. And when that happens, less people will be able to feed their families if they are on a budget.

BIODIESEL

Biodiesel is a renewable resource. It is made form chemically reacting alcohol , and is used for gas.

ADVANTAGES

  • Non-toxic
  • Biodegradable

DISADVANTAGES

  • Releases carbon dioxide
  • Can be expensive

This resource would not be good for the future, because of the carbon dioxide that it creates. In order to breathe, we need oxygen. With the distribution of carbon dioxide that is creating less oxygen to breathe. And let's not leave out that the fact it can get to be very expensive.

ELECTRIC CARS

The electric car is a renewable resource. You have to charge your car with electricity.

ADVANTAGES

  • Saves money
  • Meets high demand

DISADVANTAGES

  • Not free
  • You need a plug to charge it

Hydroelectric cars would not be very good for the future. I have reached this conclusion because it would be quite a pain to have to stay near a charger.not to mention the price of the car itself.I don't believe that in the future this will be very useful. Many families will not be able to afford this.

HYDROGEN FUEL CELLS

Hydrogen fuel cells is a renewable resource. Hydrogen and oxygen react, and that creates energy.

ADVANTAGES

  • Less pollution
  • No green house gasses

DISADVANTAGES

  • Not durable
  • Not reliable

Hydrogen fuel cells would be a very good source for the future. This source creates less pollution which is good for the economy.it also doesn't create green house gasses.
