  • Babe Ruth is often know as the one of greats in the sport of baseball. In May, 1947, he established and made the first contribution to the Babe Ruth Foundation. Inc., an organization whose resources were to be devoted to the interests of underprivileged youth.

WHERE WAS HE BORN AND WHERE AT?

  • George Herman 'Babe' Ruth Jr. was born on February 6, 1895 in Baltimore, Maryland. His parents sent him to the St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys, St. Mary’s provided a shape for his future. Not only did his learn vocational skills, but he developed a passion and love for the game of baseball.

THE EARLY YEARS IN THE MAJORS

  • Ruth entered the mlb in 1914, as a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. He won his first major league game on July 11, 1914 marking a start to a great career. Ruth only played 5 games that season due to a crowed roster. In 1915, Babe had a 18-8 record with a ERA (Earned Run Average) 2.44. The next two years he combined for a 47-25 record with a 3.76 ERA. Babe was signed by the New York Yankees in 1920. Ruth's enormous power made him one of a best hitter for the rest of his career.

CLOSING YEARS IN MAJORS

  • Babe Ruth finished with 714 home runs, 2,213 RBI, and with a batting average of .342. Ruth also finished with a pitching record of 96-46 with a ERA of 2.28. Ruth is third for the all-time home run leader. He has worked his way to success in the majors with a total of 21 years in the MLB and he plathe most common teams. He played for the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.

HALL OF FAME

  • Ruth's number 3 was retired by the New York Yankees. He is also in the hall of fame where he has the best milestone of all of just getting inducted

WHEN DID HE DIE?

  • Babe lost his battle with cancer on August 16, 1948. His body lay in repose in Yankee Stadium, with his funeral two days later at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. In all, over 100,000 people lined up and paid their respects to the Babe.

WHAT WAS HIS TURNING POINT IN HISTORY?

  • Babe established and made the first contribution to the Babe Ruth Foundation. Inc., an organization whose resources were to be devoted to the interests of underprivileged youth. Babe Ruth made sure that the underprivileged children were being treated fairly and made sure that they felt like they were the same as everybody else. He was an icon for the youth.
