what was the Hitler Youth?

  • Hitler believed the future of Nazi Germany was its children
  • It's main purpose was to train the boys for military and the girls for motherhood
  • The Hitler Youth catered for 10 to 18 year olds
  • In school, the German children were taught together to hate all other races
  • Girls were taught that all women married young, and the biggest goal was to have children

who did they become?

  • At 10, girls joined the Jungmadelbund
  • At 14, transferred to the Bund Deutsher Madel
  • Had to be able to do certain physical tests to qualify
  • Boys had a similar system
  • Hitler changed them into children with strong hatred

"The weak must be chiseled away. I want young men and women who can suffer pain. A young German must be as swift as a greyhound, as tough as leather, and as hard as krupp's steal."

What did they do?

  • Members of the BDM went to weekend camps and summer camps
  • The programs offered gave them more freedom than ever before
  • Traveled without their parents, camping, hiking, and sports
  • Got harsh criticism from Nazi leaders not believing in girls's rights
  • Convinced them their only duty was to have pure children

"Young girls at the age of 10 onwards were taken into organizations where they were taught two things: to take care of their bodies so they could bare as many children as the state needed, and to be loyal to National Socialism."

How did it impact?

  • If it wasn't for the Hitler youth, the Holocaust wouldn't have been possible
  • Millions of families suffer Grief, hatred, and confusion even to this day

If it weren't for the sick determination of the "brainwashed" German children belonging to the Hitler Youth, the genocide of the Jews wouldn't have happened. As Hitler said, the future of Germany was in the generation to come.
