PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CLOUDS AND PRECIPITATION

BY LUKE, GRANT, BRYCYN, AND CHRISTIAN

HUMIDITY FACTOR

  • 100% Relative humidity = dew point.
  • Then condensation occurs.

CLOUDS

  • Cloud - A mass of tiny water droplets.
  • Condensation nuclei- particles in the air that attract water molecules.
  • Freezing nuclei- water vapor as ice crystals.

SUPERCOOLED CLOUDS

SUPERCOOLED CLOUDS ARE UNSTABLE

CLOUD TYPES

  • Stratus, cumulus, nimbus, and cirrus
  • Stratus-like clouds near ground= fog

PRECIPITATION

  • Coalescence- molecules that crash together forming precipitaion

DEW AND FROST

  • Dew- Water formed on the surface
  • Frost- Frozen dew
