MAGHAN SUNDIATA/ SOGOLON KEDJU

  • "A mysterious hunter has predicted that the boy will one day be a leader mightier leader than Alexander the Great" (Sumdiata, page 105)
  • Although Sundiata was crippled for 7 years, he showed the courage to overcome & one day rule
  • "Take them since your son is unequal to mine." (Sundiata, page 106)
  • Sundiatas mother was strong, she put up w/ of the negativity that came along with her son.
  • Sundiata and his mother went through a lot of agony due to his illness.

SASSOMA BÉRÉTÉ/ SOUMAORO KANTÉ

  • "She had never imagined that hate could be so strong In a human being" (sundiata page 106)
  • Sassoma was a evil person. Knowing Sundiata was crippled, she still belittled him (in front of his mother)
  • "Know then. That I am the wild yam of the rocks; nothing will make me leave Mali
  • Kanté was a sorcerer king, he also had magical powers. The king of Mali
  • Sundiata wanted to take Mali, Kanté disagreed. They later became enemies of war

MORAL OF THE STORY

  • Never underestimate the power of others.
  • When it is meant to be, it will happen.
  • Treat others right, you might one day need that person
  • Every dog has his day.
  • No matter the circumstance anything is possible

EARLY LIFE

  • A old head tells them Sundiata will one day rule.
  • The fist 7 years Sundiata was a cripple.
  • His mother got fed up w/ the hatred & broke down.
  • Sundiata asked what was wrong. His mother said he was a son of misfortune
  • The same day, he told his mother to get the black smiths. The king will rise.

THE TAKE OVER

  • Sundiata rises from his knees to his feet. Everyone is amazed
  • As a teen Sundiata became a great hunter & worrier
  • Once of age, Sundiata tells Kanté that he is coming to take Mali
  • Kanté disagrees, they go to war. Sundiata becomes king.
  • King Sundiata reigns over Mali as a very good ruler.

HAPPLY EVER AFTER

  • After Sundiata became king, things changed
  • His fathers fist wife was exiled.
  • The next air to the throne (his older brother) was also exiled.
  • Sundiata brought the place back to solitude.
  • After his take over, the world knew no other master but Sundiata

QUOTE

  • "Know that there is no room for 2 kings on the same skin. Soumoro: you will let me have your place"
  • I like this quote. This shows that Sundiata had no fear of the older ruler.
  • It also shows that Sundiata means what he says.
  • He said he will be ruler, and he won the battle to name him self king.
