CHILDHOOD
Born April 23,1803
Parents are Ariel and Edilda Ballou.
Raised at a Six-Principle Baptist church.
Grew up in Cumberland,Rhode Island
At age 10 he converted his entire family to restorationalist's.
3.
MIDDLE LIFE
In 1822 Adin married Abigail Sayles.
In 1829 Abigail died during child birth.
In 1830 he married Lucy Hunt.
After marrying Lucy he diverted to Universalism.
After, he pursued being a Universalist Preacher.
4.
MIDDLE LIFE
While he worked for the Abolition he refused to do anything violent.
During that time he developed strong anti-government feelings.
He believed that the government took away you power as an individual.
He started the "Christian nonresistence"
This means that you can never be violent to anyone even for your religion.
5.
HOPEDALE
At age 37 Adin formed a community called Hopedale.
Milford, Massachusetts
People who believed in Christian nonresistance moved there.
They tried to live according to Jesus' idea if peace.
Lasted for 15 years.

HOPEDALE
Adin's friends helped him buy the 258 acres.
There were 230 full-time members.
Today at the center of Hopedale, there is a statue of Adin.
Adin Ballou died in the Hopedale community.
