Aristotle Aristotle thought that earth was the center of all things. He discovered parallax which is the shift of positions of stars from a different view.
Aristarchus He was a mathematician and an astronomer. He proposed the heliocentric model of the solar system, which said that the apparent positions of stars changed when the seasons changed.
Ptolemy He was an astronomer, geographer and a mathematician. He made the geocentric model which showed earth at the center and the other planets on outer rings orbiting around earth.
Copernicus He was an astronomer and he thought that ptolemy's model was to complicated. He made the copernican model it showed that the sun was the center and all the planets orbited around it.
Kepler He was an astronomer and a mathematician. He formed the Kepler laws which state that planetary orbits are ellipses with the sun. Planets closer to the sun move faster. The third is distance from the planets to the sun.
Galileo He was a scientist who approached questions in scientific methods. He invented a newer and better version of the telescope. He observed that earth was not the only planet that orbits.
