For filming we used a DSLR camera (Nikon D610) which I had never used before. When we filmed our preliminary material, we used a camcorder which is very different to a DSLR so therefore I also had to learn how to use a very different piece of technology
However, the quality of the sound was mediocre so we used music almost completely throughout the opening
Because of the amazing quality of the DSLR, our opening looks very professional which is what we wanted- therefore is has shown us that they are the way forward in comparison to a camcorder
Before doing media studies I had never used iMovie before. For beginners I found it very easy to use and it also performed very well with a good array of editing options.
I have learned that jump shots are an effective way to show that time is passing without having to show a shot for a long time. This engages audiences as it isn’t boring because things are happening constantly which draws the audience’s attention. We used this in our opening so that one shot wasn’t too long but still had the effect of time passing
We knew from the start that we wanted to use music as the predominant sound in our opening. However, we had to find royalty-free music to avoid copyright infringement.
We wanted to use dance music to reflect the age of the audience, make it fast paced but also to convey across that the main character can sometimes be a bit of a party animal
We found a website called 'NCS' which did a lot of dance music. The song we found was called 'Hollah!' and had sad undertones which perfectly reflected the atmosphere that we wanted
This opened our eyes to how very little good royalty free music there is out there and also how to music can enhance the video
To present our research, we used lots of different software to make it look appealing and enticing. For many of these programmes, it was the first time I had used them
The first programme I used was time toast which provided me with very interesting timelines which you could add a bit of information to and even some pictures.
ns between all your infomation.
Other programmes I have used include 'Lino' 'Emaze' 'Spider Scribe' 'Canva' and 'Voki'
I really liked using Prezi, which was a presentation software that I have used for other things since. In Prezi you could add photos and music to really create connections between all your infomation.
