The ability to stabilize our blood sugars by giving us basils (set amount of insulin) at certain times.
Instead of having to use shots every time we eat something, we just click a few buttons and it delivers the correct amount of insulin based on our blood sugars and carbs taken in.
The insulin pump is not an artificial pancreas because we still have to monitor our blood sugars, but it gives us the ability to have better control with things, it also allows us more freedom with what we choose to eat.
Sometimes the pump will break down or stop working (has happened to me twice) & if the situation is severe, you may need to be hospitalized. This doesn't occur often but every once in awhile we will receive a letter in the mail telling us to check our supplies or see if our pump is safe to use.
