• It can take eight or more years to become a midwife
• One needs to shadow an already certified midwife in order to become a CNM
• To become a midwife, there are many things required to study

BEING A MIDWIFE

• Home midwives deliver between 25 and 30 infants a year
• An average income for a midwife is about $96,970 per year
• Less than 2% of deliveries are home births

BIRTH

• First time mothers can be 8 hours or more
• Mothers and infants can die during birth
• There are many different birth deffects
• Many different factors that cause birth defects

• Postpartum depression
