THE MAASAI TRIBE

  • The Maasai make and wear colorful shukas, which are traditional garments
  • The Maasai also hold jumping contests with tourists
  • By interacting with the Maasai tribe, you can get the experience of traditional Tanzania

BABATI/HANANG

  • There are cultural insight hikes led by Rift Valley cultural guides
  • There is also a fishing adventure in traditional canoes
  • You can talk to a Gorowa story teller about Gorowa rituals

TANZANIAN FOOD

  • Wali(rice)
  • Ugali(maize porridge), which tastes like flatbread dipped in meat sauce;it also has vegetables inside
  • Mshikaki(marinated beef)
  • By eating Tanzanian food you could connect with the Tanzanian people

HISTORICAL ATTRACTIONS

STONE TOWN, ZANZIBAR

  • The fort was built in the 1700s to protect Zanzibar from the Portugese
  • Stone Town is the location of many old Arab mansions and palaces
  • The Fort is a cafe, an art gallery, and an outdoor theater

THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF TANZANIA

  • Located in Dar Es Salaam
  • Includes collections of archeological findings
  • Built on magnificent, spacious grounds

ISMILA STONE AGE SITE

  • There are multiple archeological sites where primitive tools have been found
  • Located at the sites is a small museum with some of the finds in it
  • It is a beautiful place to hike because water has eroded away some rock outcrops, leaving rock spires

MT KILIMANJARO

  • Elevation: 19,336 feet
  • Mt Kilimanjaro is very easy to climb; there are three volcanic craters to climb to, or you could summit the mountain
  • My Kilimanjaro is very intriguing because there are many different types of climate and environments

SERENGETI PLAIN

  • Average Temperature:63-81 degrees Fahrenheit
  • The Serengeti is about 5,700 square miles
  • On the plain, you can go on safari
  • In Serengeti, you can see rocks that sound like bells when they are struck

LAKE MANYARA

  • Lake Manyara Park is about 127 square miles
  • About 77 square miles of the park is lake when the water level is high
  • In Lake Manyara National Park, you can go on safari
  • Other activities in the park include birdwatching, canoeing, and mountain bike rides
