Why do scholars use the term "hierarchy" to describe Incan society?

INCAN SOCIETY

  • Incan society was divided into two large classes
  • Nobles and Commoners
  • Each class had its own hierarchy
  • Highest ranking of nobles were close relatives of ruling familes

LOWER RANKS OF NOBLES

  • Held lower ranks in gov't
  • These included non-incan local leaders

NON-INCAN PEOPLE

  • Most commoners
  • Divuded into categories based on gender, age
  • Each categorie had its own rank and dutys
  • Boys between age of 12 and 13
  • They heard llamas and alpacas
