It consist of 190 low lying tropical Islands. About 200 islands are populated, About 100 islands are resorts. Rest of the islands are used for agriculture,and other economic activities. There are no mountains or river.

Being a totally Islamic country, the Maldives celebrates the Ramadan period every year. Muslims fast during daylight hours and offices and government workers end the working days earlier.
