PRESENTATION OUTLINE

"The UK should hold a second referendum on the EU"

Tim Farron, Lib Dem leader

"We demand that the British people should have their say on the final deal in a referendum."

"Voting for departure is not the same as voting for a destination.

Brexit means Brexit but we still don’t know if that means £350 million a week extra for the NHS, immigration controls or membership of the single market."

Brexit means Brexit

"That means there’s no second referendum; no attempts to sort of stay in the EU by the back door; that we’re actually going to deliver on this."

“You have to respect the decision people made.”

Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany:

"The whole process of the exit still lies ahead of us, but the decision is irrevocable.

Now we must negotiate on the basis of our interests. And 'negotiate' means, above all, strengthening common projects."

Joseph Muscat, PM of Malta:

"Most of my colleagues want a fair deal for both the UK and Europe, but it has to be a deal that is inferior to membership, so you can't have the cake and eat it.

"I don't see a situation where Britain will be better off at the end of the deal."

Robert Fico, PM of Slovakia:

“The V4 countries (Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Czech Republic) will be uncompromising.”

“Unless we feel a guarantee that these people [living and working in Britain] are equal, we will veto any agreement between the EU and Britain."

"The EU will take this opportunity to show the public: ‘listen guys, now you will see why it is important to stay in the EU’. This will be the position."

Theresa May:

"The 27 will sign up to a deal with us.

And…we will be ambitious in what we want to see for the UK.
A good deal for the UK can also be a good deal for the other member states."
