HYPOTHERMIA

  • Really cold
  • Might not have a pulse
  • Can't move parts of his/her body
  • If in a serious hypothermic state he/she could get frostbite and lose fingers or other body parts
  • Develops when body heat is below 35*C
  • Signs to figure out a person has hypothermia is to look for slow to no heart rate, dilated pupils and the person may appear dead but never think they are because they could still be alive
  • Their skin may appear "frozen."

  • If he/she is still conscious make them drink hot things like hot chocolate

FIRE BUILDING

FIRE BUILDING

  • There are two beginner types of fires: tepee and a jenga fire
  • Jenga fires are pieces of wood that you put together to make a jenga game and gradually it will get bigger
  • Tepee fires are fires that you build a mini tepees shelter and light it up and gradually get the flames to grow as you add more wood
  • Add super dry leaves it the fire. Even if the leaves are the tiniest bit wet they will not catch on fire
  • Test the leaves if they are dry by squeezing them in your hand and if they crunch in your hand they are good
  • But if they don't crunch they won't catch
  • Also the the healthy leaves are good for signal fires because they make lots of smoke

HOW TO Build A FIRE

  • Start small
  • Use dry things
  • Stack wood or make a tepee fire

FOOD

FOOD

  • Know what is edible and not edible
  • Be aware of leaving food unprotected because it could attract bugs and animals to a feast
  • Conserve food, don't blow it all on one giant feast
  • If you find a hunters cabin and it has food you can break in because it's a survival situation
  • Have extra food on you at all times
