  • The dome is a hemispherical structure that is formed by the arch.
  • Domes started off as small mounds or structures involving tombs and huts.
  • Romans were ones to introduce larger scale domes that required strong supports and sturdy walls.

  • There were also different forms of structure like a dome on a rectangular base or geodesic domes.
  • Geodesic domes were promoted in 1954 and are a light weight durable structure that could be built as permanent structures or used as a temporary home or camp.
