But, they are actually DIFFERENT just like the HOMOPHONES!

HOMOPHONES
Words that sounds the same but they have different meaning and spelling.

Stairs vs Stares

  • Stairs - a set of steps leading from one floor of a building to another
  • Stares - a long fixed or vacant look at somebody or something

The dog stares while resting at the stairs.

Mail vs Male

  • Mail - letters and packages sent through the postal service
  • Male - a man or a boy

I saw a male postal worker deliver our mail today.

Sun vs Son

  • Sun - the star that the earth moves around and that gives the earth heat and light
  • Son - a male child

My son woke up with the sun shining on his face.

Ate vs Eight

  • Ate - past tense of eat
  • Eight - a number

The boy ate eight slices of pizza.

Write vs Right

  • Write - to form letters or numbers on a surface with a pen or pencil
  • Right - direction or position towards the right side.

I write with my right hand.
