PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Introduction
How do the crystals form on the string? You probably don't known what we are talking about, but this is our driving question. We are doing the Mining Salt. Today we will be talking about the experiment before, what we need, our procedures, and the final product.
WHAT WE NEEDED
- Small jar
- Hot water
- Table spoon
- Salt
- Small piece of string
- Pencil
- Nail
Before
Before the experiment we only had the materials we had listed before. We just had our pencil, string, table spoon, small jar, hot water, salt, and the nail. When we sett it up there was nothing on the string. And only the salt and water at the bottom and the pencil on the string.
Procedures
We had many procedures and we will be telling you about them. The first thing we did was fill the jar with hot water. The second thing we did pour in one table spoon of salt in the hot water. We did 8 ounces of water,so we needed 8 table spoons of salt. We then tied the nail to the end of the string. Then we tied the pencil to the end of the string. We then put the string tied to the pencil And we rested the pencil on top of the jar in the salt and the water mixture. Last we put our experiment away to watch the magic happen.
After
After a couple of days we saw that there were crystals forming at the top of the string. A couple of days later we saw that there was smaller crystals forming on top of the bigger crystals. How we know that matter is made up of small partials is in our experiment the crystals traveled up the string to the top, and we couldn't see it.
Driving question
Our driving question is how does the crystals form?
Conclusion
Our driving question is how does the crystals form? The crystals form in a couple of days. We think that the crystals form when the air comes up, and the salt gets pushed to the string and it clumps together. So, we talked about what we needed, before, procedures, after, and our driving question.
