CHILDREN'S CRUSADE

WHO

  • Stephen of Cloyes led the French Children's Crusade
  • Nicholas of Cologne led the German Crusade

WHAT

  • Stephen of Cloys led the Crusade but the children turned back because of hunger.
  • Nicholas made it to the sea but the children perished of hardships.

Both crusades occurred in 1212.

WHERE

  • Stephen of Cloys-France
  • Nicholas of Cologne-Germany

The Children's Crusades occurred because Stephen of Cloyes was convinced Jesus Christ spoke to him, telling him to lead a crusade with children.

INTERESTING FACTS

  • Children thought this was God's will and they had to obey it.
  • Boys from ages 6 to maturity took part in the crusade.
