With my guidance, students were in charge of determining how they would spend each Wednesday (our National History Day workday). I taught them a method of checklist journaling: check=completed, circle=in progress, right arrow=do work next time. Moved this to NoodleTools.

Evaluate: the role of the teacher is to help students stay focused--WHATEVER their focus may be. I kept a journal and met with each student to guide them toward their goal (Weebly, blog, art portfolio).

I listened, they talked.

If students sounded like they were veering from their original plan I would read my notes aloud and have them think about their plan.
