In the article A Change of Culture, an unknown author explains one reason why the Jazz Age brought a positive uprising, one of the reasons why was Jazz Music.

Jazz Music gained extreme popularity during this time, and start to shift culture. Since Jazz Music gained a quick following, it started to play on radio stations more frequently.

Jazz Music taught young people that it was okay to be different and it allowed people from all around to experience the feelings of happiness from Jazz Music.

Jazz Music enabled people to explore and expand their taste in different music, and cultures. Although Jazz Music was more popular around the African-American people, it enabled all sorts of people to “come together” to make this new style of music. (Like pictured above, there are people of all races who are sitting around playing their instruments, creating the wonderful sounds that are known as Jazz Music today.

The unknown author’s next example of how the Jazz Age had a positive influence on culture was through the influence on Flappers, and the “Ladies of Jazz”

These were women who were noted for their flamboyant style of dresses, attitudes, and their modernized morals

These women began to captivate modern society. The coming of Flappers coincided with the movement of women being able and open to many more opportunities, specifically referring to the entertainment industry.

One specific lady of Jazz set the tone for the rest of African American jazz artists. Bessie Smith was an African American Jazz artist who was the first African American lady jazz artist to become famous. It turned out that the African American jazz artists gained much more popularity than the majority race.

However, it wasn’t until the late thirties that all African American Jazz artists were fully recognized and respected as successful artists in the music industry.

In the article The Roaring Twenties, it states that another BIG change within the Jazz Age was the new coming of Cars. Cars gave the people the ability and luxury to go where ever they wanted whenever they wanted. This gave people another sense of freedom.

During this time in the twenties, many Americans had extra money to spend. They spent it on many useful everyday items, and the more wealthier Americans chose to spend their money on cars.

In the beginning of the decade, cars were seen as a luxury that not everyone had, however, towards the end of the decade, cars were seen as a necessity.

Another aspect that the Jazz Age brought to positively effect culture was dancing. Dancing enabled happy emotions and positive vibes through people.

During this time and age, dancing is what everyone wanted to do. Some dances included the Charleston, Cake Walk, Black Bottom, and the Flea Hop.

Up and coming Jazz Artists and bands would play at dance halls. This young generation loved the freedom they felt on the dance floor while dancing to the lively Jazz music

Just like this iconic era of dancing, music, and positive vibes, Fitzgerald’s novel has many instances where characters and letting loose and having fun with friends.

Specifically at party’s at the Gatsby residence. His house is the perfect example of the positive energy from the Jazz Age. His extravagant parties that he threw were filled with Jazz music, dancing, and celebrating of the happy and positive vibes that these laidback partygoers had in mind.
