MILITARY

  • Ranked 9th
  • Sacred job of manhood
  • 700,000 troops backed up by 28,000 U.S. troops
  • Immense pride in military
  • 32 billion dollars spent
  • Must serve between ages 20-30
  • Sharing a boarder with NK makes them have a large military

TRAINING

  • Winter training in -20 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Training is one of the toughest
  • Must be certain height, weight, black belt in tae kwon do
  • Military exercises with U.S.

DMZ

  • Called ROKs
  • Uniforms are BDU
  • Memorial Day June 6th
  • Women in service since 1950
  • Most militarized zone in the world
  • Built after Korea split in 1953

JSA

  • Blue buildings called JSA
  • Closest to NK without getting shot
  • "Truce Village"
  • No more than 35 guards at one time
  • Where NK and SK discuss problems
