Michaelangelo was born on March 6th, 1475 and died at the age of 88 on February 18th,1564. His nickname was "il divino", which means the divine one.

FAMOUS FOR..

  • Michaelangelo was a painter, architect, and a sculptor for Renaissance art.
  • The Pietà (sculpture), Creation of Adam (painting), and Moses (sculpture) were three artworks he made that were very popular and made him very successful.

  • Themes- religion, Rome, & historical accomplishments.
  • Types (style)- buildings, sculptures, tapestries, paintings, & portraits.

The Pietà was a sculpture representing Mary holding her dying son Jesus in her arms.n(very religious)

Creation of Adam (painting) God is reaching for Adams hand (while the Angels are guiding him) to not only give him life but to also give life to all of humanity as well. The nudity and religious symbols reflect the art period Michaelangelo belonged to.

Moses (sculpture) a man who was someone to worship. The horns represent wisdom and leadership. You can see this is from ancient times because in today's art, horns represent the devil.
