Timeline

  • 1850, Era Started
  • 1850, railroads started
  • 1869, cotton production exploded
  • 1871, Waco and northwestern railroad arrived in waco
  • 1891, The railroad commission of texas was made.
  • 1901, End of era.

Railroads
Railroad brought a great expansion of people, businesses and cities, they also replaced cowboys because they were more efficient.

Cattle
Farmers used trains to go to north to sell wild long horns because you could sell them for six times as much up north. Cowboys ignored danger to get their cattle to the north market.

Cotton
Sharecroppers did not have much money after they sell cotton. Immigrants and children as young as four worked on fields from when they woke up to when it was time to go to bed.

Summary
The economy changed But people were still poor and the railroads made it easier for farmers to sell Cattle and Cotton.
