Leader: 21 But now for the good news: God’s restorative justice has entered the world, independent of the law. Both the law and the prophets told us this day would come. 22 This redeeming justice comes through the faithfulness of Jesus,[h] the Anointed One, the Liberating King, who makes salvation a reality for all who believe—without the slightest partiality.

All: 23 You see, all have sinned, and all their futile attempts to reach God in His glory fail.
(Romans 3:21-23,The Voice)

Leader: Everyone is a sinner. No one deserves salvation. Everyone deserves death.

All: 23 The payoff for a life of sin is death, but God is offering us a free gift—eternal life through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, the Liberating King.
(Romans 6:23, The Voice)

Leader: Jesus took the punishment for me. He was my substitute on the cross. He became sin for me:

All: 21 He orchestrated this: the Anointed One, who had never experienced sin, became sin for us so that in Him we might embody the very righteousness of God. (2 Cor. 5:21, The Voice)

Leader: When we repent of sin and place our faith in Jesus Christ, we receive the gift of Salvation:

All: 8-9 For it’s by God’s grace that you have been saved. You receive it through faith. It was not our plan or our effort. It is God’s gift, pure and simple. You didn’t earn it, not one of us did, so don’t go around bragging that you must have done
something amazing.
(Eph. 2:8-9, The Voice)

Leader: When we receive the gift of salvation, we become part of the body of Christ. Right before the apostle Paul notes some of the gifts of the Spirit, he writes these words:

All: 27 You are the body of the Anointed, the Liberating King; each and every one of you is a vital member. 28 God has appointed gifts in the assembly: first emissaries, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, healers, helpers, administrators, and then those who speak with various unknown languages.
(1 Cor. 12:27-28, The Voice)

Leader: Do you see what’s taking place? You received a gift, the free gift of eternal salvation. That gift includes eternal salvation. It includes forgiveness of sins by Christ’s death on the cross. It includes adoption by God the Father. It includes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. And it includes becoming a part of the body of Christ, the church. It’s not a legalistic obligation. It’s not country club perks. It’s not a license for entitlements. It’s a gift. A gift from God. A gift that we should treasure with great joy and anticipation.
