WHO WAS FRANCISCO PIZARRO ?

  • Franciso Pizarro was born in Spain in the year 1475.
  • Pizarro never learned to read or write and he was poor.
  • Pizarro's father was a captain of the army and he wanted Francisco to be a captain of the army.
  • But Francisco wanted to sail the seas.

WHAT DID FRANCISCO PIZARRO DO ?

  • Pizarro went on two adventures
  • First he sailed to what is now known as Colombia in 1513.
  • Then he sailed with Vasco de Balboa on his 2nd voyage and he saw the Pacific Ocean and claimed it for Spain
  • He also led expeditions on the west coast of South America near the present day country Peru.
  • He met people who belonged to the Inca tribe.
  • On the orders of the King of Spain, he conquered this land and claimed it for Spain.

  • In Colombia
  • The west coast of South America
  • In Ecuador
  • In Peru
  • And in the Pacific Ocean

WHEN DID FRANCISCO PIZARRO GO EXPLORING ?

  • In 1509 (1st voyage)
  • In 1513 (2nd voyage)
  • In the 1520's
  • From 1532 - 1541 he ruled the land of Peru.

WHY DID FRANCISCO PIZARRO GO EXPLORING ?

  • He wanted to claim land for Spain.
  • He wanted to get the gold and riches from the Inca tribe.
  • And he was promised that he would get to rule Peru.

HOW DID FRANCISCO PIZARRO EXPLORE ?

  • He used guns
  • He used an army
  • He used canons
  • And he used knifes

HOW DID THINGS CHANGE AFTER FRANCISCO PIZARRO FINISHED HIS EXPLORING ?

  • The Inca tribe became Pizarro's slaves.
  • Pizarro built a palace and a city for himself.
  • He built the city of Lima and it is the capital of Peru.
  • Pizarro discovered gold, silver and diamonds
  • He discovered other countries in South America.

REFLECTIVE COMMENT

  • I think that Pizarro was not caring because he killed the Inca people of Peru just so he could rule Peru.
  • He was open-minded because he helped his father in many ways after his mother died.
  • Pizarro was a risk-taker because he could get killed doing his job and following orders.
  • And he was not respectful because he killed everybody in Peru
