Techniques

  • Pinch pots
  • coil method
  • slab method
  • wheel work

pinch pots

  • these are great for beginners. The process is self-explanatory; from a ball of clay, using your thumb, start from the middle and pinch the clay until it is in the shape intended.

coil method

  • this method is a mixture of pinch and coil. Starting with a small pinch pot for the base, the coils will create the main size and shape. these coils will be smoothed on the inside for stability, but deciding to sooth on the outside is up to the artist.
