-Words, Experiences, and Personality traits: “He would rather have at the head of his bed twenty books, bound in black or red, of Aristotle and his philosophy than rich robes, or a fiddle, or an elegant psaltery.”
“He spoke not one word more than was needed, and that was said with due formality and respect.”

-Social Class: Clergy
-Inferences: -“And diligently did pray for the souls” (301).
-“And that was said with due formality and respect” (305). Clerics are supposed to be honest.
-“His speech was consonant with moral virtue” (307). Virtue!
-Chaucer is critiquing the cleric’s good traits. Such as respect.
