It is a system of deep holes about 7 ft deep and 6 ft wide, to protect themselves from the enemy. It was a quick and easy dig in the ground to keep them “safe”.
They were dug by the soldiers. Just by digging in the ground. It was fast and easy, but them that lead to them being exposed while they were shooting at the enemy.
September 14, the germans were being fired at by the allied forces. They then begin to dig into the ground to avoid losing anymore ground in the war. The allies were unable to break through this, then they started to begin to dig, in which how this/it all started.
It was very very smelly, moist, and were not the best. They had a-lot of mice but in a way it helped. Most of the soldiers got very sick because of how wet it was and how nasty it was. It caused most soldiers to get trench foot.
The most used animals in WW1 and many other wars were, dogs, cats, mules, horses, pigeons elephants, camels, oxen, bullocks, cats, canaries, even glow worms.
The most helpful invention was poisons gas, but this was actually not used as much as you would think. But when used it did a-lot of damage because of strong they made it. Now a days is not very common to use
