The Delaware Colony was named after its major river the Delaware River, which was named after Sir Thomas West, also known as Lord de la Warr, one of Virginia Colony's early governors.

Delaware is known by this nickname due to the fact that on December 7, 1787, it became the first of the 13 original states to ratify the U.S. Constitution.

They are also able to manufacture iron ore products such as plows, tools, kettles, locks, nails and large blocks of iron which they exported to England
Delaware was often referred to as a breadbasket colony because it grew so many crops, especially wheat.
