CHARACTERISTICS

  • The emu has droopy brownish gray feathers.
  • It's native to austrailia
  • It has two long and powerful legs with 3 twos on each
  • Their average height is 1.5 to 1.9 meters.
  • Their average weight is 30 to 60 kilograms.

HABITAT

  • The emu is a native animal to Austrailia.
  • They are most commonly found in woodlands.
  • They are least commonly found in arid areas.
  • They usually are very solitary and will live alone.
  • If they aren't alone they will live in small flocks.

FOOD

  • They eat shoots, berries, and insects.
  • If their food source is they will stay where they are.
  • If their food source is scarce they will travel great distances to find food.
  • To help digestion they will swallow small stones to grind up food.
  • They require a large amount of 9 to 18 liters of water a day.

ADAPTIONS

  • The emu has many adaptions for their enviroment.
  • They can speed up to grant speeds to escape predators.
  • Their long necks allow them to get food from high places.
  • Their beak allows them to peck away predators.
  • Their feathers allow them to camouflage to stay hidden from enemies.
  • Emus are able to move from habitat to habitat to find food.
