MYTH

A myth is a narrative, usually with an origin, that is usually a short fictional story. It has characters in the story and there usually is a problem and conclusion/moral within it. Myths have a lesson to learn and could be based on true events, but is not nonfiction because not all of the story is real. There is also usually a plot in a myth that tricks people into doing something.

LEGENDS

Legends are traditional stories about a person or place. They are more cultural than myths and they are similar to a folktale. Technically, the word legend means a tale about a saint. Legends are told as history

FOLKLORE

A folklore is a story about someone’s culture, sort of like a legend. Characters in these stories had strength, determination, or cleverness to save themselves from villains and overcome obstacles. These have endured for centuries. Mainly, these are about stopping someone who wasn’t doing something right according to their culture

FAIRY TALE

A fairly is a wonder story about fairies. There is usually a protagonist, antagonist, problem, and solution in these stories. The antagonist usually does something bad and the protagonist resolves it. Sometimes, they’re from cultures, but mostly it’s not and made up to show things about how to act.

FAIRY TALES I REMEMBER

Yes, I remember the three little pigs and little red riding hood. They are great stories having a problem and solution.
