#1 Fecal Samples

  • Fecal sample are poop!
  • Characteristics are: Compact and it doesn't have bone pieces in it
  • Reasons to find scat: it tells what it's eating and where it's territory is

Tools needed to collect

  • envelope or ziplock bag
  • twigs
  • gloves

What print to look for

  • 4 round toes and a pad with NO claw marks = a cat
  • Paw impression - 90mm
  • Straddle - width of legs from each other
  • Paw prints are also known as pug marks

Steps

  • find a pawprint
  • remove sticks and leaves off print
  • build wall around print
  • mix water and plaster
  • fill print with plaster
  • smooth out
  • wait for it to dry
