How the Legend has Changed Over Time

  • Other Alaska Native variations of the story are spirits of dead ancestors playing soccer with a walrus, or the other way around, walrus spirits playing with a human head.

HOW THE LEGEND HAS CHANGED OVER TIME

  • The legend has changed over time. Depending on the area the story seems to be different. My best guess is that it was misinterpreted when people from other villages came over.

THE MESSAGE

  • The message of the story of the Northern Lights is not to stay out past dark or bad things will happen.

DID IT COME FROM A REAL STORY?

  • From my knowledge there is no real story that this legend is made off of.
