The (WTCU) Women's Christian Temperance Union was a big force of the 18th amendment.

Why people wanted prohibition?
People wanted prohibition because people wanted people to stop drinking alcohol. But because prohibition happened bar tenders and owners lost there jobs.

18th amendment banned making, selling,and transporting alcohol. It was passed January 29th, 1919.

Speakeasies, were illegal clubs that allowed people to drink during prohibition.

The (KKK) Ku Klux Klan was a strong supporter of prohibition.

Al Capone, is estimated to have made about $60 million in alcohol sales alone in 1927.

On December 5th, 1933 the 21st amendment allowed prohibition to end.
