PARTS OF SPEECH

NOUN

A noun is a person, place, or thing.

The DOG ran in circles until he becameg dizzy and fell down.

PRONOUN

Takes the place of a noun.

SHE was very proud of herself when she received her report card.

Adjectives are used to describe things.

The BIG brown bear watched the campers day and night.

VERB

A verb expresses an action, being, or state of being.

In the summer, we love to PLAY games in the pool.

ADVERB

An adverb can modify a verb.

PREPOSITION

A preposition links nouns, pronouns, and phrases to other words in the sentence.

Hooking up words and phrases and clauses.
