SIMILARITIES BETWEEN CRASH AND MANIAC MAGEE

• One similarity I noticed was that both main characters had to deal with bullies.
• Another similarity I noticed was that both main characters are athletic.

MAIN CHARACTER

John/Crash Coogan- I can infer that Crash has broad shoulders and he is strong because he knocked over his uncle Scooter. Crash also wants to be football player. Crash is a dynamic character because he starts off as a bully then he realizes that being a bully is not right so he is not a bully anymore. Crash also really likes Jane Forbes.

MAIN CHARACTER

Mike Deluca- Mike is a bully. He also wants to be a football player like Crash-Mike's best friend. Mike is a static character because he stays a bully throughout the story.

MAIN CHARACTER

Penn Webb- Penn is a static character because he stays his same friendly self. At the beginning of the story Crash says Penn is a dorky little runt. Penn on the inside is a friendly kid, and he is just friends with everyone. Also Penn is a vegetarian and he tries to stop the mall that is going to be built

MINOR CHARACTER

Abby Coogan- Abby is Crash's little sister. She becomes friends with Penn. She also is a vegetarian and she tries to stop the mall that is going to be built. She also is a dynamic character because she changes a little by at the beginning of the story she is just a regular kid then she becomes a vegetarian and she wants to buy clothes at a thrift shop. Another thing is that Abby wanted to turn the backyard into a wildlife habitat and she wanted Scooter to build an observation deck.

MAIN CHARACTER

Scooter-Scooter is Crash's grandfather. He used to be a cook in the U.S. navy. He traveled to many places and brought back a lot of things. He also tells good stories. Scooter came to live with Crash and his family. Also when they were playing football Crash knocked him over. Scooter also had a stroke when he was trying to build the observation deck that Abby wanted. After the stroke he could only say a-bye. Scooter is a dynamic character because he has a stroke and can only say a-bye after his stroke.

MINOR CHARACTER

Crash's mother- Crash's mother is a real estate agent and she works for the mall that Abby is trying to stop. Also at the end of the story Crash's mother decides that her family is going to buy clothes at a thrift shop called second time around. Also she is a dynamic character because at the beginning of the story she works a lot and at the end she gets to spend more time at home.

MINOR CHARACTER

Crash's dad- Crash's dad is starting a business so he has to work 70 hours a week just to get it off the ground. Crash's dad is a very busy man so when Crash asks him to take him to a ball game he can't because he is busy. He is a static character because doesn't really change throughout the story.

MAIN CHARACTER

Jane Forbes-Jane is a new student at the middle school and she is the prettiest girl in school. Jane is also trying to stop the mall that is going to be built and she likes Penn. She is also a cheerleader for the middle school. Jane Forbes is a dynamic character because at first she doesn't like Crash because he bullies Penn then later when he becomes friends with Penn Jane becomes friends with him too. Also Crash really likes her.

RISING ACTION

• Crash goes to Penn's house for dinner.
• Crash and Mike become friends.
• Scooter has a stroke.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE TITLE

The significance of the title is pretty big because Crash is the characters nickname. Crash is called Crash because when he was little he crashed into his cousin Bridget.

MY MOOD AT THE END OF THE STORY

I was happy at the end of the story because Crash stops being a bully and he becomes friends with Penn.

HOW THE MAIN CHARACTER CHANGED

Crash the Main character changes because at first he bullies Penn then he comes to realize that he shouldn't bully Penn so he becomes friends with Penn.
